cinderella

Work day. I worked on follow-up for meetings and planning for presentations. Meetings, presentations. Whatever happened to real work? Someday, I'm going to program again. Or at least design. Or at least design WEB pages. I talk, I meet, I present, I e-mail. Therefore, I am.

At lunch, SuRu and I chose Japanese. We hadn't been in a while. Plus it's next to my favorite mail service, Mail Depot, and I had to send a box of toys to my great nephew. I'm sure he doesn't NEED toys, but hey, he's two months old and I don't ever want him to remember not having a bunch of toys.

Sometimes I feel like Cinderella. Selected pretty arbitrarily she was, don't you think? Why did the Fairy Godmother show up there? Surely many others with small feet suffered.. Sure the wicked stepsisters and stepmother didn't deserve it, but in real life it wouldn't come out this way. At least this wasn't the incest version. (Remember the lecture.) The place was overrun with kids. Maybe not as many as 'Nutcracker,' but if the parents didn't get the kids out to see this one, they were remiss. Lovely music, nifty costumes and sets. Nice Pumpkin Coach.

Stephen Mills had to play the social secretary because some dancer was hurt. Costume changes for him between artistic director and that. We were in the Green Room prior to the thing at a promotion to people to get them to donate.

Lloyd Doggett was there in the Green Room, "following my lead," he said in nabbing some food. . (Your congressman if you live in Travis County.) He helped Stephen introduce it.

We'd arranged for cousin Robert and Anne (of American) to come and they were both alone for this evening so they sat together. Bookkeeper Gayle came, too, and brought her friend Joseph. Afterward we huddled briefly.

Forrest suggested that the outcome might have been Austinized with the prince getting together with a footman, his secretary or the pumpkin or something.

Chalow is doing OK. Forrest says 'she is smiling more.' Chalow DOES smile when she is happy. She is eating well, begging for people food, eating her dog food, especially when it is 'sweetened' with a bit of grated cheese. She is wagging her tail more and I could almost see her running around in circles as I put on my hiking boots and waist pack, anticipating eXtreme dog walking.

My poison ivy? It has left some of my skin dry and kind of damaged feeling. But it is well enough that people comment on it. "It's not as red." "It's gone." I did nothing, used nothing on it. OK, I swallowed a couple of Aloe tablets. Aloe by mouth usually relieves other skin problems. I suspect time was the only factor here.

perserving neighborhood art

On display today: the window decoration that used to grace the motorcycle salvage shop.
I don't understand the barber chairs let alone why they collide. Today, the place is still a motorcycle salvage shop, but the window paintings are gone, both the chairs and the cycle.
