"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."

lazy Saturday

The dog starts running around the bedroom about 7AM so I get up. The big black poodle looks at me from THE ROOM through the French doors. I try to get the little dog, on the leash, to go in the front yard. The neighbors are just starting up a garage sale.

A few cups of Capresso fuel me and then I dress and go to visit with the neighbors. They are selling off old computer junk and my donated toys and such. The kids are selling lemonade and pickles from the shadow of the umbrella.

I am theoretically going to clean up my office. Actually I do read some of the two-foot pile of newspapers, look at a few old slides and organize them, and sort some junk in a desultory way.

I find several channels of Wimbledon tennis and let myself admire the shots and drift back and forth from other things to watching. FFP is in and out going to the club and such. He says he has three Sport Court commercials in the Wimby coverage. I see all three so I guess I'm watching a bit.

Dad calls all his sisters. He's thinking of visiting one for a few days while he waits to get moved in.

Forrest, SuRu, the parents and I have Conan's pizza and watch "The General's Daughter" on cable and "Straight Story" on a video FFP rented at Vulcan while picking up Conan's. I have eschewed "The General's Daughter" in a couple of hotel rooms, but it wasn't that awful. "Straight Story" is my kind of little movie. Tiny interactions between people. A real kind of chronicle. It was bugging me at the end when the Lyle Straight character came on screen. Harry Dean Stanton. What other movie had I seen him in? Had to go to www.imdb.com to see that I was thinking about "Paris, Texas" which is another movie I like from one of my favorite directors, Wim Wenders.

My quote from the bible today seems to be admonishing me to be busy. But I am extremely lazy this Saturday. And it wasn't that bad. Must get with it tomorrow and exercise and get some stuff straight. Or not. Wimbledon will be on again.
