"La pensée fait mal aux reins. On ne peut à la fois porter des fardeaux et des idèes."

"Thinking is hard work. You can't simultaneously carry burdens and have ideas."

fly away

Getting ready to fly away and see a customer filled the morning.

No rain in Dallas in 59 days? But thunderstorms play havoc with DFW.

We are late arriving at DFW. The display shows a relative quick departure of our Boston flight although everything in the airport is delayed. We rush to the slow train. There is plenty of time, though, and then there is a wait behind forty other planes to take off. I have two naps before we actually leave the ground.

Still, we are only two hours late. A cab to a hotel. One room key doesn't work (and the room is on a floor smelling of paint and looking unfinished and with no house phone). So I get another key and, while I'm at it, a room on a different floor. It doesn't smell of paint. The hall is littered with scraps of paper that won't be picked up in my short stay here.

Some calamari and a beer and bed.

Waiter:
"The calamari, um, it's hot."

Me:
"I'm from Texas."
