"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. "

Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

why is this here? because someone is selling a Hello Kitty sushi restaurant on ebay, that's why!

like a termite

At work, I toil away. I'm never sure anymore what I'm accomplishing. Sometimes I look around and marvel at the ground I've covered, leaving few traces, taking little away.

At a meeting, someone is leaving the meeting room from another meeting. There is gossip about changes. "Did you have anything to do with what I heard?" I'm asked. I smile. I'm not sure if I did. The workings of the bureaucracy are a mystery to me, really. I'm an innocent. "She's like a termite, silently working on your house," says the departing individual. Hmmm...a termite! Is he saying I'm destructive? I hope, of course, that I am a force for good, not evil. Or 'at least do no harm.'

At noon, I go to lunch alone. I eat at Edge City after wandering around The Arboretum shopping center, looking for frames for my mother.

After work, I stop by the parents' house and frame a couple of things. I still haven't gotten the right frame for one picture.

We have dinner with our friends Anne and Les at Bistro88. It's a Bistro with an Asian flair. The foyer is full of odd bamboo displays with the bamboo trained to at right angles and such.

I have three cabbage ravioli (with a mushroom sauce) and a sea bass steamed in cabbage with vegies. It's pretty good.
