"Buying books would be a good thing if one could also buy the time to read them in: but as a rule the purchase of books is mistaken for the appropriation of their contents."

Arthur Schopenhauer, philosopher (1788-1860)

Why?

I've nothing else to post and I like this postcard...

sore throat time

I've spent all night fighting the sore throat. Switched to Tylenol cold at 5AM.

Every morning I turn on the little black and white TV in the bathroom while I brush and floss my teeth. Yesterday, Heather Locklear was on some morning show. I peered at the screen because while I've heard a lot about this person I had no idea who she was or what she looked like. She seemed like lots of other women with big blond hair. But maybe I'll be able to recognize her if she sits beside me on an airplane. Then I can avoid an awkward moment like I had with Sandra Bullock. Did I tell you about that?

Work. It's hard telling people that their project may not be on track. Harder still knowing what people should do. And telling them. And having them understand. And having them do it. Impossible maybe. But it isn't dull. Sigh.

Mezzaluna Gateway. Had a business lunch there. Had a halibut special that was quite good and made me think maybe I should start going there again.

Stop by parents. Give them their tax return. Dad owes a little money but is extremely happy just to be done with it. I don't blame him. I feel the same way. They ought to crank up the standard deduction even more than they do for old people. I think. Until, if they live to be 100 or so and have only a small pension, they can just stop paying.

home. FFP made me a great dinner. It was 'his version of King Ranch Chicken.' We also had some wine. I conked out from the cold medicine and wine and peacefully slept away the last attempt of my body to get sick. (With a little help from Echinecea.)
