I noticed that God and Government were next to each other in one of my quote books.

"In general, the art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other."

Voltaire

"Every man thinks God is on his side. The rich and powerful know that he is."

Jean Anouilh, The Lark

Taxes have. The Christians believe that Jesus did. It's April 15th. It's Easter Sunday.

The eXtreme dog walking team walked down to 38th Street and crossed under and ended up in back of Seton. We went to Lamar and doubled back into the neighborhood and back home. It was a nice walk and wasn't too hot yet.

Easter lunch was ham, rolls, green beans with onions, spinach casserole, green salad with lots of goodies, fruit salad, strawberry short cake cake (a cake with layers of short cake, whipped cream, strawberries). A bit of wine (a Fall Creek Merlot), too. Very good. I would have taken a nap after if I could have captured a lounge chair long enough or if Jack hadn't entertained us. (He didn't want to nap.)

We had an Easter Egg hunt with Mom's friend Maja's granddaughter. She understood it and enjoyed looking for them. Jack was amused but enjoyed throwing them more than anything.

We got the in-laws home and had a little nap and reading ourselves. My folks brought Jack over and he enjoyed the dog, the balls, the computer and discovered the piano. He found the demo mode and volume control. Of course. That boy has a talent for pushing the right buttons.

I surrender to my stack of newspapers and sleep. I could use a four-day weekend frequently. It's great to go to sleep on Sunday and know that the next day isn't a work day.
