the river of jazz

Wow. Waking up to fresh air! Wow. We are even energized enough to walk down (and up) the hill that the house on the hill sits on. We buy cheese and donuts and crackers and a can of coffee. But we don't use any of this but the coffee because we have a call from the compound. We are going to go on a river cruise on the Willamette. But first a nice hike on a green belt to the pond with the forgotten, rotting railroad bridge.

We have lunch and drinks and watch bridges go by. I could get used to watching the (working) world go by. Even FFP seems to be relaxing a little.

We crash a little before...wine and jazz. There are art booths and wine booths and a little local fusion coma band playing (with occasional sax awakenings).. We throw blankets down right in front. It's small and it's pleasant. Two large young girls with small dogs seem to be admiring our middle-aged pleasures. When I get up to go for some more of a pleasant Merlot we've discovered, one of the girls says 'are you a singles group?'

Then Chuck Mangione's group comes out. Wow, they do rock the place.

We close the place and then close a Mexican joint on the Colombia River. Cadillac margaritas on top of a bit of wine insure sleep.
