"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
George Bernard Shaw, Reason

home to the crustacean

Forrest is up pretty early. So I get up and get a shower while he goes and finds a paper. I pack everything up and we are off. We drive out Westheimer a way, get gas and hit a Starbucks. We are listening to a book on tape. We get to La Grange pretty quickly and we get a snack and I drive on in.

We get unpacked and I work on a few things on the computer. Soon it's time to go pay a visit to Mom and Dad and see my aunt and uncle one more time before they leave.

My aunt and uncle who live in Maine have decided to bring the indigenous food to us with the help of Central Market. They have pick ten lobsters and had them cooked by the store. Mom and my aunt have made some cole slaw.

My friend LG is supposed to be there. But her clock was wrong and when I call she is fifteen minutes late and then she goes to our house instead of Mom's. But all is well because CM iced the big bugs and they need to thaw down and they are just right as we rip into them and dip their sweet meat into the drawn butter. Ah, gluttony. I eat two...but you do have to work for it.

We watch Six Feet Under with this gang and I'm not sure that it wasn't largely lost on them, all the drugs, sex, dreams. I mean life and death having intercourse? Where are these people going with it? And wouldn't you think that the gay brother would not be SO preoccupied with his troubles that he would get the Ecstasy out of the aspirin bottle after his mom got one last season? You put two of them in the aspirin bottle, Mom gets one and you don't, um, go rectify it and instead wait for someone else to take one? Whatever.

We go home and do a little reading and TV and the weekend is, sadly, over.

I have now opened a couple of gaping back doors to get into the new entries here. I suspect no one has found their way in, though, except for the handful that I guided. I can hardly see someone puzzling it out who was too lazy to just write an e-mail to let me know they were interested in the revival. But if you are reading and weren't specifically invited back, do email me. I'm just curious.

I did this for my own convenience, of course. There you go. It's all about me.
