you were tired of dead dolls anyway, huh?

"Les querelles ne durearaient pas longtemps si le tort n'était que d'un côté."
François, duc de la Rochefoucauld

Quarrels would not last long if only one party were in the wrong.

TGIF

I didn't have a single meeting. There were no particularly demanding e-mails. (One was from a new guy. Perhaps we should 'get' this info. So, yeah, I shot back the info, WEB pages, etc.) I had a couple of visits from people asking about stuff that was mildly entertaining. I worked on about four different things. When I got tired of one I moved to the other in my true ADD fashion. There was lots of reading involved. I could have accomplished more, yes. But at least I accomplished something. A little. Or so I say. Sometimes one's accomplishments are restricted to learning enough to have an opinion. Which is then written up, perhaps a plan is formulated. Then, since I'm a staff person, you have to look for someone to do the work. Because you don't really do work. Which isn't entirely true, of course. But you can only do so much alone. Without a staff. Staff positions don't have staff. It was a beautiful day outside. I was too lazy to go outside so I ate some nachos, some carrots and some cookies from yesterday. Also, I figured if I went outside then I wouldn't come back in.

After work, FFP and I had this idea that we would go to the club and hang out, maybe work out or I'd go bang some tennis balls against a wall. Maybe I'd do both. Then we'd shower and eat in the bar. But. We realized that there was this party to kick off a big tennis weekend and we didn't want to wade through the crowds. In another life, I'd have signed up for all the tennis and parties. But I couldn't spend the whole weekend doing that. Or at least I didn't want to and it interfered with an event early Sunday evening.

So, instead we walked the dog around the neighborhood. We bumped into someone we knew (although I couldn't remember his name and FFP couldn't either). We got a couple of shots of Chalow, FFP wandered into the video store to see if there was a DVD we needed (he didn't find anything), I shot some pictures. We have an interesting neighborhood, all in all, with the bakeries (Greek, Mexican, American), the various restaurants (several Mexican but also Chinese and the fast food ones), and, of course, thrift shops, a Psychic Reader, medical practioners, one of those fantasy game stores. And on and on. We've got it. You can even get your knives sharpened. It's a really funky neighborhood but very alive. I don't see how people live where they have to drive miles to, um, their Psychic Reader, say. If you are an energetic walker then you can walk to darn near anything from our house. Except for a movie theater. There was one, years ago, quite close. It's the library now. (Yes, we have a branch library.) That's good. But a movie would be nice. I guess if you were really, really energetic you could walk to the old village which is now Alamo Draft House North. But it's a LONG walk and I don't count that as part of the neighborhood. You can walk to the bowling alley, though. It's sort of far but we've walked the dogs that far plenty of times.

Af first during the walk, FFP said that he wasn't hungry. But then he said, "Now, I'm hungry."

We thought of taking the dog home and going to the Chinese or Mexican place over on Burnet. But I suggested that we go to Milto's down by campus and then Toy Joy. In Milto's, the gal got FFP a glass for his root beer and was putting our salads and stuff on the counter down the way from where we were. The glass fell over and shattered everywhere in these tiny pieces. It was a mess. It was pretty far from us, but a couple of people standing nearby in shorts and sandals were lucky not to have tiny glass pieces in their skin. It was really strange. I ate a Greek salad and a Gyro. We went over to Toy Joy. I didn't buy anything. Then we went to Half Price Books and poked around for a while. Didn't buy anything there either.

Then it was home and I read some newspapers and watched some tube. Just as I'd flipped to a Mad Max movie, I decided to mess around with the computers and left FFP sleeping in front of that. Wonder if it affects his dreams?

I stay up too late. I'm trying to figure out why a script I've set up to backup on FFP's machine has quit working. It's always something. In this case I think that changing to Daylight Savings Time removed the scripts from the exclude list that Norton has. Maybe.

JUST TYPING
Friday's euphoria.
Is entirely related.
To what you think you can do.
With the time off.
