My mom taught me how to get down these two steps safely so they aren't a barrier anymore. I practiced it thirty or forty times to be sure I had it figured out. The toys are down these stairs so it's important.

preparation for the return journey

A day in which packing and repacking and thinking about the journey pervades everything.

I've rather enjoyed my visit even though my sister's broken leg has put her out of action and changed our activities. I've enjoyed walking the neighborhood although it could be described as dull. The cooler temperatures and less humidity is appreciated. I've managed to locate coffee in several directions. I've seen birds and plants I don't usually see (magpies and fir trees). I haven't minded sleeping on the couch. I've enjoyed the kids and the ride on light rail. I've even enjoyed reading my old newspapers and working puzzles in them and such.

It's time to go so I have rearranged my possessions so on the way home some of it can just stay packed up. We came up here with a topper on the van containing most of our luggage since the van was packed with things we were bringing. We put the topper back inside, filled with boxes and packing my sister has salvaged while unpacking the dollhouse stuff. I still have a pile of old newspapers to read that I used, rolled up in batches, for packing around things. Reading material for on the way home.

I've frozen a few water bottles and chilled some others and renewed our blue ice. I'll take a few sodas and a small amount of food for our journey. I've brought our commuter cups in from the van to fill in the morning. Nothing more to do really but sleep and wait.

Time flies....

Driving for twelve hours focuses one on the passing of time.

Reading.

Reading old papers.

What's my excuse today?

I'll write when I get home. This journal anyway.

Exercise

A few sit-ups?

Fitness helps when driving long distance, I found. I got less weary and sore than I used to.

.

Something about heading home improves my mood some.
