dreaming of school and war

I woke up amidst a dream and remembered a bit of it. I think I woke up because my leg was cramping. I should drink more water but I do like to remember my dreams.

Yeah, in this dream there were formations of planes like in a war and the sounds of guns but no apparent damage. And I was in school only I'd only bothered to register for one class which seemed to have something to do with the movies. I talked on the phone to an old buddy and when the planes went over I heard them and then heard them over the phone wherever he was. I went out to see them. It seemed to be a formation of old WWII era bombers and fighters. Not that I'm an expert in such things.

So in my dreams I am learning about WWII and movies. So there. Of course, in my dreams I always forget to buy textbooks, study or go to class. Planes with realistic ack-ack would get my attention, though. Briefly. In this particular dream I was aware that I forgot to even register for more classes. Which is just as well since in dreams I forget where my locker is with the textbooks for a test I haven't studied for which is starting soon in a room I can't find. Usually I've lost my pocketbooks and all or part of my clothes, too. Oh, and often I can't find a toilet that works and I need one. I keep finding toilets that are out of order or out in the open.

But, no, all that didn't happen in this dream or not that I was aware of when I remembered it. It was just the planes and the film class.

Food Diary.

breakfast
xxx

lunch

three bratwursts that weighed in at 720 calories according to the package (!) and some sauerkraut

snacks

xxx

dinner
[Fonda San Miguel]
a margarita
chips and salsa, more chips, more salsa
1/2 bottle of Pinot Noir
1/2 of a queso asado with duck sausage and the requisite tortillas
spinach salad
ceviche

Can you say...eat more fruits and vegies? Drink less? I thought it was a neat little save at the end to get ceviche and spinach salad instead of an entreé.

Time flies....

This morning I waited to go to the club until a friend who wanted to go with me picked me up. But I got up reasonably early so I did some web surfing and newspaper reading. Current Newspapers in some cases. Since we didn't start for the club until almost 10, it was time to show the building after a shower and lunch. I always get there first and open it up. I then wait around while the potential client and the realtor and the contractor poke around and ask questions. It's sort of boring but also interesting in a way to see people's visions and concerns. I no longer put much stock in anyone buying or renting it because, in spite of the realtor licking his chops for a commissions, I know that a lot of these people aren't serious. So I don't try to convince anyone of anything. I had to go back and open it again for a second looker at 3pm. Ah, well, the place is close by so that's cool. I always take something to read while I wait.

Ahem.....we had no social event scheduled for the evening! A miracle! How to spend free time? Just go out on our own? See a movie? Stay in and watch TV? I let FFP decide. He finds it hard. He wonders if we have the budget to eat out again. He agonizes but finally selects Fonda. We go early. The place isn't very full but it fills up with the Friday night crowd and we see lots of people we know. At home I read some papers and watch old episodes of M*A*S*H on TV. I've gotten into that lately landing on those when nothing else catches my eye. Yeah, it's a wasteland.

Reading.

Read Paris in Mind a little at the gym. Read some papers.

Read .I.F. Stone's A Nonconformist History of our Times: The War Years 1939-1945

I actually worked on a column on the mundane subject of gift-giving that I may offer to a magazine or newspaper. I may not do anything with it but I thought it would help me to write something that needed to be terse (500-1200) words and witty. Yeah, right.

Exercise

fifteen minutes on bike

fifteen minutes on treadmill
Ten minutes on rowing machine
