Austin, TEXAS, January 25, 2006 — While we are incapable of cooking and serving a fancy dinner for thirteen (how we ended up with this unlucky number is another story), we can serve an OK dinner for four. You know...if we stick to reheating something leftover and making something simple.

We had dinner for two gals who will serve at our dinner party the first weekend of February. I didn't worry too much about it. We could have made nachos or pizza or whatever.

In the end, we set the table nicely and I reheated the stuffed zucchini I made last night and the Ranchero sauce and served them that followed by chicken taco salad FFP made which is chopping and saute work but

that's it. I made another batch of mango margaritas. Just the same as yesterday only using a sorbet called Ciao Bella. In a side-by-side, the Hagen Daaz recipe won the respect of all concerned. I'd put the leftovers in the freezer for a while and then in the frig from the night before and even the relative freshness of this other batch didn't help it.

We went over all the relevant detail with the young gals who were referred by the ballet and who have worked for caterers. They sang the praises of the food, too. I have to say it was a tasty and simple meal. I reheated the stuffed zucchini in the oven long enough that they finally got tender enough to suit me. I should cook more. Really. But I probably won't.

FFP at Petit Zinc. Paris is on my mind.
