cool Monday

Not a bad day. Work was OK because I had no big meetings. Sent some e-mail, worked on various projects and had two fairly productive one-on-one meetings with people. One made an appointment, the other simply popped by.

The pleasantly cool weather turned pretty warm by noon and back to cool by evening.

We walked to Fonda San Miguel tonight for an AIDS benefit. Sat with a guy we'd met at a dinner a couple of years ago. He lost his partner a month ago. Sat with some other nice folks, including the Executive Director of AIDS Services Austin.

Roberto prepared a wonderful meal but didn't even have time to emerge from the kitchen for accolades. The SXSW crowds have started to appear. Supposedly Louis Black entertained some New York Times writers in town for the festival in the main dining room.

I took the first photo at my Dad's. Someone he knows stops by on Sundays to pick up metal scrap. My dad had picked a good-sized pile of stuff for discarding and it was sitting on the driveway. When I was scanning the picture, I thought 'some of this stuff may end up back in a sculpture that I pay a lot of money for.'

Sunday SuRu complimented me on my socks after we had brunch at Ella's. I had my digital camera with me so I shot a picture of my feet.

"Did you just take a picture of your socks?"

"Yes, I did."

So here are the socks. They have ties on them. Sometimes I wear wild socks, but usually just black ones. I have tons of black ones but it never seems to be possible to match them up.

I'm going to post a bio and a cast of characters. Subject to change. Like everything.
