lunch at the desk or fine dining

Another day of meetings at work. Herding cats is a good description.

The food and beverage manager at Four Seasons invited us to try the new menu. Actually, we'd already dined there twice since the new menu, but it was another good experience. My green and white asparagus with a wonderful sauce and mushrooms meshed with the Petite Chablis. My veal with morels and the Chateau La Coste Margaux (1996) couldn't have been better. I'm going to order this beautiful young Bordeaux masking as an older, gently-aged bretheren until they run out. Hope they have a bunch.

Cactus Pryor and Liz Carpenter and a bunch of their pals were at Four Seasons. Cactus said they were coming from doing a seminar at LBJ School. A couple of ex-presidents would be there tomorrow, he said. The second team in his estimation.

On the way home, Forrest stopped at Waterloo Records. Some article in The New York Times had sent him to buy a new CD. I love the way the CDs here are ecumenically arranged, simply by artist. This places the punker and the guy in a suit like FFP next to each other riffling the CDs. And it puts Woody Guthrie next to Gutmothers or some such in the stacks. Always an interesting and eclectic crowd in this place.
