"Live all you can; it's a mistake not to. It doesn't so much matter what you do in particular, so long as you have your life. If you haven't had that what have you had?.."

Henry James , The Ambassadors

the consensus issue

I woke up several times. FFP went out to see the Statesman and Times thrown. (Both were.) The WSJ never came or was spirited away while he wasn't looking.

Work. It isn't that there is disagreement. The well-articulated objection is met with 'that is the consensus issue we brought up.' We'll have to deal with that. Meanwhile we will go ahead with the plan you disagree with. We won't deal with any issues raised though. We'll just deal with the 'consensus issue.' We'll just deal with the fact that you don't agree. This is another way of saying, we already know you don't agree and we don't have to care. You have to laugh. You really do. I did. Sometimes I wonder who has the power to act. Sometimes I wonder if anyone does. Sometimes I wonder if it matters.

SuRu and I tried a new Japanese place for lunch. The portions were very large. It was pretty good. The menu was huge.

We went to see Ballet Austin do Don Quixote. Nice. Visited with friends in the intermission. So weary, though. Went to the backstage party for a minute or two. Straight home after that.

It always takes a little time to settle down and go to sleep after I get home even when I'm really, really tired.
