"Happiness is an imaginary condition, formerly attributed by the living to the dead, now usually attributed by adults to children, and by children to adults."

Thormas Szasz, The Second Sin

Meta: The drift and skew between doing and writing about doing are troubling me, but it's all a game, isn't it? Like the absence of presence of pictures. It just doesn't matter. Or quotes. Or the entry per day. Or the index being up-to-date.

birthdays galore

After work today, SuRu and I went to Mom and Dad's and helped Mom hang some decorative plates. I have learned that my mother's decorative choices are not similar to my own. Of course, my own house looks nothing like it would if I started from scratch. Nor would I, beginning now, assemble a collection of hundreds of bendable, posable figures. However, my parents cling to things. They reuse them, preserve them, prop them up. Sometimes this results in a sweet nostalgic look. Sometimes in a middle-class blahness. You never know.

It's Mom's birthday. Yesterday was Dad's. FFP is at a meeting so SuRu and I take them to Brio Vista. It isn't far from their place, but they haven't been there. We all have fish. Mom gets an extra side order of asparagus and a crême brulé for dessert. We watch a Hill Country sunset from the patio. It's nice.

I'm still suffering from this cold and I veg when I get home.
