AUSTIN, Texas, October 15, 2005 — I was trying to get off to the club early (not waking up so early now) but that didn't happen. FFP's computer needed attention and I did some stuff on mine, too.

I did get to the gym, though, and did an OK workout.

We planned our day around the football game down at UT. But not in the way you might think. FFP watched the first part while doing the elliptical machine at the club. (Just as I'm addicted to the recumbent bike, that's his machine.)

I started the DVR recording the end of the UT game and another game FFP was interested in. Then we went downtown, before the game was over which would send hoards of fans down that way. We parked and went to Starlite where we were the only people there. We had a nice meal. (Except they took away the bread after you finished your apps. This is the second time I've been in there and they did that. Strange. FFP wanted more bread with his entree and had to ask for it but had no plate, of course. Who are these people, the carb police? No, because there are potatoes on the spinach salad.) Anyway, the food is very good and we had a nice wine (a Ramspeck Cab...we'd loved their Pinots over the years and this Cab was good).

As we left Starlite football fans were starting to crowd into downtown. But we had our parking place. We went to the Hideout and went to a rowdy Cabaret put on by the Austin Men's Chorus. Funny and fun.

Then we went home and left the bar hopping to the football fans. FFP watched whatever football he wanted off the DVR, I guess. Me, I fell asleep.

Bontebok, Solole Game Reserve, Cape Peninsula, SA with baby (it looks like a baby Springbok but it's not, its colors change as it grows up and the protectiveness of the adults proved the guide's assertion)
