The Visible Woman
Watches

Bread and Tulips, an Italian movie set in Venice. I like the scenery. Has that actor, Bruno Ganz, who was in Wings of Desire (Himmel uber Berlin). I have been watching bits and pieces of this one for the last couple of days. Think I'll save it (it's a NetFlix) and watch it when I get home all the way through. Watched the A&E special on Eisenhower in the days before D-Day. Critics had at it for various reasons. Some because it was dull and had no exciting footage. In this, it was accurate. Ike anquished about politics, decisions and the weather. There were some inaccuracies, though. The defeat speech wasn't given to Smith, I don't think, but rather stuck in his wallet. A lot of books say so anyway. We went out to the movies to see Supersize Me at The Arbor. It's hard to say just how bad a few Big Macs a week or month really are. This guy ate every meal at McD and quit exercising. I mean to the point that he took a cab if he was walking 'too much.' The damage to his body was insane though from this onslaught. It was also interesting that he showed lots of fat butt shots. Did he not need permission for these? A lot of kids he didn't have permissions for were blurred or blotted out. Kids have always eaten shockingly. Since my generation (the first boomers) anyway. The difference is that we could buy a four ounce Coke in a paper cup between classes. We might have a six ounce Coke at lunch or at home (when our mothers let us have them). Now they have the Big Gulp and the Bigger Gulp. One thing I've done in the last year and a half (while I lost thirty pounds or so and became leaner) is watch my consumption of soda, diet or not. I do drink it, though.

Thirteen Conversations about One Thing. This is a nifty little movie that traces those illusive things: happiness and chaos.

Finished watching Rosewood and watched The Sopranos (Adriana gave me a stomachache...so if they had to whack someone....) Watched some Law and Order movie. They never tire of variations on that one and neither do we.

AUSTIN, Texas, May 15, 2004 —
Watched The Swimmng Pool. Very interesting. It explores a theme I'm very interested in. What is truth, what is fiction? And where do the two meet? This 2003 movie should be on everyone's 'should be watched' list.

AUSTIN, Texas, May 14, 2004 —
