The Visible Woman
Reads

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 31— Read (all of) Jules Feiffer's screenplay for Carnal Knowledge. Read a bunch of older newspaper sections and looked at a couple of crosswords.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 30— Finished reading the Journals, Diaries and Notebook on the bike. Bunch of old newspapers. Worked some crosswords.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 29 — Reading the Journals, Diaries and Notebook on the bike. Close to the end on this one. Reading Oliver Saks' entry. Didn't get around to the papers at all.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 28 — Reading the Journals, Diaries and Notebook on the bike. Gordon Parks entries very interesting. You learn the strangest things. He visited this South African 'homeland' Ciskei which doesn't exist anymore post-apartheid.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 27— Reading the Journals, Diaries and Notebook book; started Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, the original edition. Bought it years ago, my mom borrowed it and it finally showed up as I was cleaning at Dad's. Some of her attempts at drawing inside. Read some newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 26 — Back to my Journals, Diaries and Notebook gig. Joyce Carol Oates offers some insights into the process.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 25— I didn't read much today. A little newspaper, some stupid magazines.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 24 — I read some silly magazines at the club. Finished Aransas by Stephen Harrigan. A very accomplished first novel by a guy who would make a good career of writing. But you probably never heard of him.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 23— I forgot to take my book to the gym. I was left reading the old magazines. Pretty good article in Real Simple about making decisions and another about living with family heirlooms. Read half a fiction offering in an old May issue of The New Yorker. I'm sure the issue is around here somewhere. But I bet I never finish it. Read a little of Aransas, too.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 22 — Didn't read much today. A few newspaper sections. A little bit of the Harrigan book.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 21— Read a little from the papers and a bit of the journals book. Reading Dmitri Nabokov journals. Now that's being the child of literate parents.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 20 — Didn't do much reading today. A few papers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 19— Still reading Stephen Harrigan's Aransas and, because I have met him I guess, wondering about how much is autobiographical, what kind of research he did.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 18 — Still reading Stephen Harrigan's Aransas (a very accomplished, out-of-print first novel) and some newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 15-17— Still reading my journals, etc. book and also picked up Stephen Harrigan's Aransas, a 1980 book by a guy who lives here that FFP knows who was on one of the panels at the film festival. We had a copy lying around. Why not read it, I figured. Saw Stephen yesterday and FFP told him I was reading this old paperback edition. "That's the one with my name misspelled on the title page," he said. Indeed, it is, I notice later.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 1-14 — I read almost the entire Sept. 6 issue of The New Yorker. Continued reading my journal, notebooks and diaries collection since returning from Colorado. Read a bunch of old newspaper sections I took on trip and trying to catch up since returning.
