The Visible Woman
Reads

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 30 — Started Let Me Go by Helga Schneider. A very interesting little book by a woman who was abandoned by her mother who became an SS guard and the woman's reunion with her mother. I read this because I couldn't locate 1939 The Lost World of the Fair by David Gelernter but then I found it, FFP had taken it upstairs to look at the pictures.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 29 — Read some newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 28 — Read The Austin Chronicle and a little other newspaper.

DALLAS, Texas, Nov. 26 to Nov. 27 — 1939 The Lost World of the Fair by David Gelernter. Some old newspapers.

DALLAS, Texas, Nov. 25— Not much reading. Starting a book called 1939 The Lost World of the Fair by David Gelernter. It seems like an interesting book and the guy who wrote it was, I think, a victim (who survived) of the Unabomber. I think I'll write a book called 'forgotten terrorists.' We do quickly forget, huh?

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 23— Finished Nadine Gordimer's The Pickup. I read some papers the last couple of days but not keeping up!

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 21 — Read a bunch of newspapers. Nadine Gordimer's The Pickup.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 20— Read a little newspaper. Nadine Gordimer's The Pickup is sort of stream of consciousness from several points of view, dense and literate. But I like it.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 19 — Read a little newspaper. Nadine Gordimer's The Pickup,

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 18 — Read a little newspaper.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 17 — Started Nadine Gordimer's The Pickup. Read a bunch of the newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 16 — Finished The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Interesting book. Lots of vignettes about the difficulties when certain parts of the brain are damaged. Lots of hypotheses about the hows and whys of the brain. All sorts of things I will probably forget but interesting all the same. My joke lately when people ask what I was reading was to tell them this book and, if they ask what the seven sins were, to tell them I forgot! Actually I could always remember a couple. They are transience, absent-mindedness, blocking, misattribution, suggestibility, bias and persistence.

I also read some of the newpapers and worked a crossword puzzle.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 15 — The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. A few bits of newspaper. A copy of Travel and Leisure magazine.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 14— The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. A few bits of newspaper.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 13— The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. A bunch of newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 12— The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. The stuff on false memory is not as interesting to me as the rest of the book.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 11— Didn't read much today.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 10 — The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Tried to work the crossword in the NY Times. It had to do with the World Series and the Sox breaking the curese. I read some of the newspapers, but other sections remain...I'm retired and I can't get through three newspapers a day. It's truly sad.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 9 — I read several articles in today's paper in more detail than I usually do and worked both puzzles. There is some guy in Queens who is a jazz drummer and acupuncturist and who makes music from heart beat and then modifies the music to be 'healthier' and then plays or sends the music back to the the person through acupuncture needles. Several doctors were interested in his work.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 8 — All today's papers. (Naturally I don't read all of them...but I do consider and discard each section. And, yeah, I read some things.) The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Some old newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 7 — Part of the Sunday papers. The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Some old newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 6 — All of today's newspapers. The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Some old newspapers.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 5 — All of today's newspapers. (Making this a habit for some reason.) A good deal of my friend's book.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 4 — All of today's newspapers! And some old ones as well.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 3 — All of today's newspapers! Some old newspapers. A bit of a book called The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 2 — All of today's newspapers! A bit of a book called The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. Maybe my memory problems are the reason I keep a daily journal. It is too easy to forget things if more than a few hours go by, he says. Especially the mundane. Especially as we get older.

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 1 — Some newspapers. A bit of a book called The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel Schacter. It's an interesting book. But I'm sure I'll soon forget what's in it. (Joke. Sort of.)
